Reading is a gateway to another world. Summer reading lists are always something that I gravitate towards to inspire new books for me because they are tried and true and not just new! These books are recent finds that I completely loved and have already given to my sister to read too!

My sister and I have always loved to read books. When we lived states apart, we would read either the same book and have our own little FaceTime Book Club chats, or we would literally snail mail each other books we had already read. Now that we live closer, we just trade books. These methods were more cost effective for us because we loved the same books, so we would save money by sending one another our used books.
We always dreamed about starting a book club with others who love to read as much as we do, but for now, we are ok with our club of two. However this blog gives us the perfect platform to share with you literature lovers all the wonderful and sordid books we are currently reading and why we love them so very much.
Happy Reading!
- Still Missing by Chevy Stevens
If you love crime and true crime as much as we do, you will get swept away by this thriller story. It is about a woman who is seeking counseling for her recent trauma that she survived from a kidnapping. The story takes place in flashbacks that are driven by her visits to her therapist. While the story is truly sad, you will be riveted by the ordeal this woman was put through while also learning empathy towards others that will surprise you. It is a true must read! In fact, I already bought another one of her books to start reading.
2. The Beautiful Ones by Silvia Moreno-Garcia
On the surface, this book seems like your typical period romance novel. It could not be further from the truth! Right away, you are drawn to the darkness of one of the main characters. Her desperation to fit in as an insider of the elite and bitterness to those who are born into it is something that is relatable, but the part of ourselves that we try to dispel. Throw in a few love triangles, telekinesis, and pure manipulation, and you have one very compelling book. This was certainly a page turner and one book that you should not judge by it’s cover!
3. The Last Mrs. Parrish by Liv Constantine
I encourage you to give this book a try. When I read it, I came into it with the thought that this would be a light, seductive, and diabolically charged. It was and the main character was determined and deranged enough to believe herself capable of deceiving those around her to get to her own end. It is by no means a psychological or crime thriller, but it is a quick read and is good if you are looking for a story that is captivating but is not going to overwhelm you emotionally. Sometimes, you just need a good, easy to read book for those beach days!
4. Wideacre by Philippa Gregory
As an author, Philippa Gregory is most well-known for her many books on the Tudor family. The Other Boleyn Girl being one of the most popular which was made into a hit movie. However, she has written so many other books prior to and after those books. This is one of them. It is a trilogy, and one that will grip you and pull you into it’s seductive darkness. It will honestly make you physically put it down several times and think, “Am I really reading this?” because it is amazingly dark. It gives you young love, a very strong woman, and a family prequel that will cause generations of complex relationships throughout the trilogy. You will not regret this one. I can promise you that.
5. Wreckage by Emily Bleeker
Wreckage is a book about interviewing a plane wreckage survivor. Much like Still Missing, it is predominantly based on back flashes to the wreckage triggered by the Interview of the survivor. The main character is a woman who is one of the only survivors of a rare plane crash where she was not rescued for a very long time. Suffering from PTSD and a jumble of memories and emotions, this book will take you back to her experience. It unfolds her sordid experience on the island throughout the book, and what she has to do to survive. Great read!
I hope that you will enjoy and read these books. Reading for me is an escape and way to learn and experience things I would never be able to in my daily life. I invite you to escape into this world with me!
